JMMT Partnership, the owner of The Lofts at 7714, is excited to announce that Spotlight Performing Arts Academy has renewed its lease in Suite B for another year. The premier performing arts school originally moved into this retrofitted mill property in the summer of 2012, and it has been providing individual and group classes in voice, theatre, and various musical instruments ever since.
Upcoming Events at Spotlight Performing Arts Academy
- August 11 at 7 p.m.: The students at Spotlight Performing Arts Academy will perform Sweeney Todd to a sold out audience.
- August 20 and 23 at 7 p.m.: The school will host open auditions for its next live production, Shrek the Musical, for students aged 9 through 21, which will be performed November 30-December 2 and December 7-9. For more information about the auditions, click here.
- Fall Classes: Spotlight Performing Arts Academy is currently registering for fall classes. Sign up today for individual lessons or choose from the following group classes: Jr. Show Choir, Spotlight’s Show Choir, My Time to Shine, Production Class, and Creative Dramatics.

The Lofts at 7714 is located in the heart of Mint Hill’s business center on Highway 51. Visit us at 7714 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Parking is available in the front lot, along the side by the Woof n Hoof (please parallel park to the right for traffic to flow through on the left) and in the back lot.
In the past, this historic building hummed with textile and manufacturing machinery. Today, it hums with a variety of activities for the residents of Mint Hill and surrounding areas.
Built in 1945, the building now known as The Lofts at 7714 was and is Mint Hill’s only mill property, and it is now home to a vibrant tenant community of local small businesses.

At the street-front level, peruse the work of the local clay artists of Pottery 51. This non-profit cooperative of artists has unique finds for your home decor or gift giving needs on display in its gallery, which is open when the flag is flying.
Or stop in Bull Moose Guns, which specializes in rare and antique firearms and military memorabilia, including WWI and WWII-era items. Bull Moose Guns is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Drive around to the rear entrance of The Lofts at 7714 to stop into Vintage on the Hill. This shop sells a variety of home decor items in addition to offering furniture refinishing services and custom-built pieces. Vintage on the Hill is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Looking for a great place to try or return to a yoga practice. Mint Hill Yoga offers a variety of classes, including gentle yoga and curvy yoga.

Spotlight Performing Arts Academy is offering seven summer camps this year. Choose from the Summer Stock series, which includes Into the Woods, Jr.; Aladdan, Jr.; Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr.; and Disney’s Cinderella, Kids. The school also offers Into the Spotlight, Find Your Voice, and Broadway Bootcamp.

Audition for Sweeney Todd at The Lofts at 7714
On Monday, June 18 and Thursday, June 21 at 7 p.m., students aged 14 through 18 are welcome to audition for Spotlight Performing Arts Academy’s summer production – Sweeney Todd School Edition 24 Hour Project. The show will be performed for the public on Saturday, August 11 at 8 p.m.

Broadway Revue Auditions Coming Up

Spotlight Performing Arts Academy will hold auditions for its Broadway Revue on Monday, March 26 and Thursday, March 29 at 7 p.m. for students age 13 to 20. The show, which will be performed on May 18 and 19, will feature pieces from some of Broadway’s most popular shows, including Hamilton, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, The Lion King, and much more.

Calling all Mint Hill Middle and High Schoolers: Spotlight Performing Arts Holding Auditions for Fame, Jr.
Spotlight Performing Arts Academy, Mint Hill’s premier performing arts school, will produce the musical Fame, Jr. as part of its fall Theatre Production Class. Interested middle and high schoolers should plan to attend one of the upcoming audition sessions. Everyone will receive a part, but audition performance will determine the role assigned.
Fame, Jr. Audition Information
- Auditions will take place on a first come first serve basis today, September 11 from 5 to 7 pm and Saturday, September 13 from 10 am to 12 pm.
- Those auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song and do a cold reading.
- The audition application is available for download on Spotlight’s website or copies will be available at the studio on the day of auditions.
As a production class, the performers and behind the scenes workers will meet three times a week for 8 to 10 weeks, culminating in the live performances on December 5th and 6th.
