Spotlight Performing Arts Opens Its Doors to All This Saturday

September Awaits You at The Lofts at 7714

The month of September at The Lofts at 7714 is filled with events and activities for the residents of Mint Hill, Matthews and Charlotte.  This retrofitted mill property is located at 7714 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in the heart of downtown Mint Hill.

September 4th:  Mint Hill Yoga begins Senior Yoga classes at 9:30 am.  Visit www.minthillyoga.com to register or find out more.

September 5th & 7th:  Spotlight Performing Arts Academy hosts auditions for its next production, Sleepy Holly – The Musical.  Visit www.spotlightacademyonline.com for more information.

September 7th:  Spotlight Performing Arts and Mint Hill Yoga are both celebrating their one year anniversaries in The Lofts at 7714 with Open Houses.  Spotlight will feature a live band and student performances and offer food, drinks, door prizes and giveaways from 3 to 7 pm.  Mint Hill Yoga will offer free half hour yoga classes and chai tea from 3 to 5 pm.

September 13th:  Pottery 51 hosts its monthly open house with wine, snacks and beautiful pottery.

September 16th:  Spotlight Performing Arts Academy’s fall classes begin and run through November 18th.  Class offerings include Kids’ Choir, Theatre 101, Spotlight’s Show Choir, Chorus and a Production Class.

One Year and Counting for Lofts Tenants

Happy Anniversary to The Lofts at 7714 tenants Spotlight Performing Arts Academy and Mint Hill Yoga.  Both moved into this retrofitted mill building in downtown Mint Hill one year ago this month.

Spotlight Performing Arts Academy is located in the anchor space of The Lofts at 7714 offering musical instrument, voice and theatre classes and performances.  In their first year, they taught students of all ages in various performing arts genres, sponsored show choirs and presented live performances such as School House Rocks Junior.  Here is to your first year in business Spotlight!

Mint Hill Yoga, located within the interior of The Lofts at 7714, is now offering over a dozen classes per week in a variety of yoga genres, including Slow Flow, Fusion, Soft Vinyasa, Deep Stretch, etc.  With the motto Yoga for Every Body, they have a class to fit everyone from the beginning yoga practitioner to the experienced one, at all age levels and with all body types.  Congratulations to Mint Hill Yoga!

Don’t Miss Free Musical Workshops at Spotlight Performing Arts this Month

Spotlight Performing Arts Academy, Mint Hill’s premier performing arts school, is hosting three free workshops this month at its studio located at 7714 Matthews-Mint Hill Road within The Lofts at 7714.  So shake off the winter doldums with a little musical warmth at one or all of these workshops, which feature the instructors of Spotlight Performing Arts Academy.

 

For the budding actor — Acting 101:  Presented by Alexandra Lee on Saturday, February 9 from 10 – 11 am

Students will learn the ins and outs of working in a theater, including basic terminology, directions, movement, blocking, reading from a script, characterization and more.  They will have the chance to work in a real theatrical space and will spend the majority of the workshop up and moving about in this fast-pased, high energy class.  Participants are encouraged to wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing.

 

For the next Ringo Starr — Welcome to the Drumset:  Presented by Jeff Goodall, February 9 from 2 – 3 pm

This workshop is geared for those interested in taking up the drum set (kit) or those who have just started playing.  This is a great opportunity to try out those drum sets that Santa managed to get down the chimney, and learn from a gifted instructor.

 

For the songbird — Let Your Voice Shine:  Presented by Angela Gordon, February 16 from 2 – 3 pm

If you like to sing but want to improve your technique, this is the workshop for you.  Angela will present four singing techniques that will make ANYONE sound better.  Who knows, you might just be ready for American Idol after just one hour of instruction.

Winter Classes Start Jan 14th at Spotlight Performing Arts Academy

Start the New Year off right by signing yourself or your child up for one of Spotlight Performing Arts Academy’s winter classes.  There is something for everyone at Mint Hill’s one and only performing arts academy located within The Lofts at 7714.  Classes start the week of January 14th, but this week is “Try Before You Buy  Week” – come join one of the following classes to see if its for you for only $10.

  • My Time to Shine Preschool (ages 3-5) – meets Wednesdays 3 – 4 pm.

  • Spotlighters Show Choir (ages 10+) – meets Wednesdays 6:30 – 8 pm.

Spotlight Performing Arts Calendar is Heating Up

Less than two months after opening in The Lofts at 7714, Spotlight Performing Arts Academy is heating up the scene in downtown Mint Hill with music, performances and more.  On tap, this week at Spotlight Performing Arts…

  • Calling all actors:  The last casting call for Charlotte’s Web the Musical is Wednesday, October 10th at 6 pm.  The audition is open to actors of all ages.
  • Calling all singers:  Kid’s choir (ages 7-10) meets Tuesdays from 5 – 6 pm; Show Choir (ages 10+) meets Thursdays from 6 – 7:30 pm; and preschool classes meet Wednesdays from 3 – 4 pm and 5 – 6 pm.
  • Calling all stunt actors:  Spotlight’s second FREEtober workshop, “Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting,” is Saturday, October 13 from 2 – 3 pm.  This workshop is free, open to all ages and will focus on stage and stunt fighting.   And for every participant that attends this workshop, Spotlight will donate $1 to Breast Cancer Research.
