Local Photographer Moving into The Lofts at 7714

The Lofts at 7714 is excited to welcome yet another local, female small business owner to its vibrant tenant community. On September 1, Mint Hill resident and local photographer Kiersten Clay will move her current home-based studio into a 375-square foot space in this retrofitted mill building.

Kiersten follows a long line of other women-owned businesses that chose The Lofts at 7714 as their first commercial space when transitioning from a home office or studio. She joins current female-owners Angela Gordon Mills of Spotlight Performing Arts Academy (Suite B) and Bettie Shea of Mint Hill Yoga (Suite E), who have both been tenants in The Lofts at 7714 for seven years.

Several previous female-owned business tenants used their time at The Lofts at 7714 to nurture their business and launch its next growth phase, including employment attorney Lynn Leary, Cheryl Murphy of Click.Pack.Move! and most recently Pam Egleston of Vintage on the Hill.

After two years in The Lofts at 7714, Vintage on the Hill is rebranding as Goodness Gracious and moving to a larger space at 7701 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Their move resulted in two rare openings in this retrofitted mill property. Kiersten is taking over Vintage on the Hill’s former workroom (Suite F), but their showroom (Suite I) is still available for lease.

Spotlight Performing Arts Academy Renews Lease for Anchor Space in The Lofts at 7714

Dec 25, 2011 - March 9, 2012 352Spotlight Performing Arts Academy, Mint Hill’s premier performance-based music and theatre academy, has renewed its lease for The Lofts at 7714’s anchor space for the seventh straight year.

About Spotlight Performing Arts Academy

Spotlight first moved into this former mill property located at 7714 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in August 2012. Since then, owner Angela Gordon Mills has steadily built a loyal customer base of students of all ages enjoying individual lessons, group classes, theatre productions and summer camps.

“Spotlight Performing Arts Academy has been a terrific tenant. After the Great Recession, they were one of the first tenants to move in when we began retrofitting this building, which has been in our family since 1962,” said Mary Crotty of JMMT Partnership, the building’s owner. “Angela, her teachers and students, all helped breath new life into what was once an industrial property, giving this historically important building in Mint Hill renewed purpose.”

Upcoming Theatre Auditions

The performing art school’s next planned production is Rodger and Hammerstein’s Carousel, with auditions this weekend for actors ages 8 through adult:

  • Saturday 8/24 at 9 a.m.
  • Sunday 8/25 at 6 p.m.

The cast will present the production to the public December 6-8 and 13-15.

Fall Classes at Spotlight Performing Arts Academy

Spotlight is also now accepting registrations for fall classes in piano, voice, guitar, bass, percussion, banjo, mandolin, brass, woodwinds and string instruments.
