So shake off the winter doldums with a little musical warmth at one or all of these workshops, which feature the instructors of Spotlight Performing Arts Academy.
For the budding actor — Acting 101: Presented by Alexandra Lee on Saturday, February 9 from 10 – 11 am
Students will learn the ins and outs of working in a theater, including basic terminology, directions, movement, blocking, reading from a script, characterization and more. They will have the chance to work in a real theatrical space and will spend the majority of the workshop up and moving about in this fast-pased, high energy class. Participants are encouraged to wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing.
For the next Ringo Starr — Welcome to the Drumset: Presented by Jeff Goodall, February 9 from 2 – 3 pm
This workshop is geared for those interested in taking up the drum set (kit) or those who have just started playing. This is a great opportunity to try out those drum sets that Santa managed to get down the chimney, and learn from a gifted instructor.
For the songbird — Let Your Voice Shine: Presented by Angela Gordon, February 16 from 2 – 3 pm
If you like to sing but want to improve your technique, this is the workshop for you. Angela will present four singing techniques that will make ANYONE sound better. Who knows, you might just be ready for American Idol after just one hour of instruction.
