Spotlight Performing Arts Academy Celebrates Grand Opening in The Lofts at 7714

MINT HILL, NC, August 15, 2012 – Spotlight Performing Arts Academy, LLC, has leased the 3,600 square foot anchor space within the The Lofts at 7714, located at 7714 Matthews-Mint Hill Road.  The Academy, which will offer private and group music, voice and theatre arts classes, will celebrate with an Open House on Saturday, August 25th.

Angela Gordon, owner and founder of Spotlight Performing Arts Academy, will lead a staff of highly qualified teachers to provide lessons in every musical category, as well as theater arts, to the residents of Mint Hill and surrounding communities.  “Spotlight will serve an untapped market in Mint Hill providing a convenient and affordable place to learn a musical instrument, further develop existing skills or tap into one’s voice or acting talent,” Ms. Gordon stated.

Spotlight Performing Arts Academy opened its doors to students on Aug. 13, 2012 with a primary focus on instruction for students ages 6 to 17 but students of all ages are welcome. “We also anticipate staging theatre productions for the community at the Academy and fielding choral groups to perform in local and travel competitions,” added Gordon.

The Academy will celebrate its Grand Opening with an Open House on Saturday, August 25th from 10 am to 2 pm.  The general public is invited to tour the academy; enjoy refreshments, live music and giveaways, including coupons for use on that day; and enter a drawing for a FREE month of lessons.

“We are thrilled to welcome Spotlight Performing Arts Academy to The Lofts at 7714,” indicated Mary Crotty, managing partner for JMMT Partnership, the owners of the building.  “They make a great addition to our tenant community and further our goal of making The Lofts a welcome home for performing and visual artists.”  In that vein, The Lofts is also home to Pottery 51, a clay pottery studio; Asylum Digital, a music recording studio; and Mint Hill Martial Arts, a traditional martial arts school.

Angela Gordon has over ten years of experience in her field.  With a Masters Certification in Music Business and Songwriting from Berklee School of Music and a Bachelors in Vocal Performance, she has extensive knowledge of various musical instruments, including band instruments; classical, musical theatre and commercial voice; as well as guitar, piano and songwriting.  She has directed several plays, led multiple show choirs and directed the Levine Center Senior Chorus and Arts Group.
