Who would believe that the same space used for such industrial purposes could be transformed into a digital recording studio? Well, Scott Slagle did! From the moment he stepped foot into the back left corner space of The Lofts at 7714 building, he visualized a complete transformation. As the owner of Asylum Digital, he made that vision a reality with his own two hands. Scott recorded every step of the way with his New Studio Build Diary. Take a look! It’s amazing what he has done to the space, taking advantage of its vintage vibe to create a wholly unique and eclectic studio for recording artists.

Mint Hill Martial Arts began its relocation to a 2,700 square foot space within The Lofts at 7714 just after the new year began. Instructors and students alike worked for several months to upgrade their space from its previous industrial use in this former mill building to its current state. The large open space is now divided into three sections, each of which is dedicated to a particular martial arts form complete with the appropriate flooring and instruments. The final job in this relocation was completed recently as owner Chris Facente oversaw the school’s sign being hung over their new front door.
Mint Hill Martial Arts offers classes in Lai Tung Pai Kung Fu, Daitoryu Aikijujutsi, and Tai Chi Chuan six days a week at convenient evening and weekend times for working adults and parents of students.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mint Hill Martial Arts to The Lofts at 7714,” indicated Mary Crotty, a managing partner for JMMT Partnership, the owner of the building. “This building has been in my family for 50 years and we’ve seen it go through many changes in that time. To see it repurposed yet again is very exciting. The folks at Mint Hill Martial Arts seem to love this vintage building as much as my family does and they immediately became its newest stewards. We look forward to having them as tenants for a long time to come.”
